Bird is a great choice as a CRM for event organisers. In this guide, we'll walk you through getting your Bird account setup and integrated with Evntree.

Why Bird?

In today's fast-paced world, event organisers need a robust CRM system that can handle various forms of communication and streamline their workflow.

Bird stands out as an excellent choice due to its all-in-one integration of email, SMS, and WhatsApp, making it easier to manage multiple communication channels from a single platform.

Not only is Bird more affordable compared to alternatives like Mailchimp or Sendgrid, but it also hosts a selection of integrations and has the cheapest SMS cost vs competitors.

Additionally, Bird offers powerful automation features that save time and enhance productivity. The platform's Conversations Hub further ensures that customer communications across multiple platforms are efficiently managed, making Bird an indispensable tool for any event organiser.

Creating your Bird account

To begin, create an account at https://app.bird.com/auth/sign-up

Bird pricing is based on contacts, with the ability to add credits to your account for SMS sending. They've removed any profit markup on SMS making it the most affordable solution around.

Authenticating your domain

To improve open rates and to adhere to new requirements from Google and Yahoo, you should authenticate your domain.

If you do not already have a domain, we recommend purchasing one through Namecheap.

To add your domain head to https://app.bird.com/preferences/email/domains

Add your domain and then select your domain provider on the list for a quick integration. If your domain prover is not on the list, you will have to add your DNS records manually.

Once you have added your records, click Verify. Sometimes it can take up to 48 hours for DNS settings to propagate globally, so if it doesn't verify immediately, check back every few hours.

Once complete you will see a verified Domain in Bird

Finding your Access key

Your Access key is what allows Evntree to send registrations straight to your Bird account. Always keep this safe and do not share with anybody else.

Head to https://app.bird.com/settings/security/access-keys and create a new access key.

You can choose Organization Owner then Save.

Copy this value as we'll need it for the next step. Once you close the popup you will not be able to see this value again due to security reasons.

Connecting with Evntree

Navigate to your organisation's settings and the API Keys tab.

Paste in your API key in the field labelled Bird API Key. You will also need your organisation ID, which can be found at https://app.bird.com/settings/organization/organization.

Once you have both values, you should then be able to select your Workspace from the dropdown. Click Update to save.

To check that your API is working, click the test connection button.

Choosing your list

Before sending data to Bird, you will need to create a relevant list on the Lists & Segments page.

Once you have created the list, it should now show when you edit a page, in the Marketing tab once you check Send to Bird.

Your Evntree and Bird should now be connected. When a user registers on your page, the data will automatically insert into your Bird list.
